Unawatuna is an ideal place and one of the hot sports for Stilt Fishing by remarkable local fisherman. Just before the sunrise, stilt fishermen fly above the sea.
A fisher-folk plants sticks into the shallow water and sits on a crotch on the stick to catch small variety of fish. These fishermen known as “Stilt Fishermen” spend hours for catching fish one by one. They look like a flock of legged birds with their straw hats and the fishing rods. So you too can join them but must be careful to learn to sit on a piece of stick (maybe about 8 inches) for more than an hour or more.
